Mexico Marina Trivia

Mexico Marina Trivia - November 2015 Most of Mexico's marinas on the Pacific coast are modern, up to date, and generally very nice facilities. The catch is often there is not one where you want or need it. Sometimes there is a fabulous marina smack dab where you have no use for it. We need to run from Cabo on the south tip of the Baha to Ensenada where we clear out of the country. There's almost six hundred nautical miles between the two. This stretches our fuel range and goes too far in to our reserves. There is no Marina between here and Ensenada, so here's the plan. It's upwind so no help there. There is a bay, Bahia de Tortugas (Turtle Bay) about 400NMs north of here. The local fishermen realized the need for this fuel stop a long time ago. They will refuel even large yachts from their small panga boats. So that's our plan. Apparently these guys have even made it on the charts. There's a note on the chart that's states fuel available. As far as I know, they are referring to the panga fuel barges. Unless it's new, there is still no Marina there and no fuel dock. Posted during our delivery of a new build custom Wilbur from Boston to California. If my nautical nonsense interests you, you are welcome to visit some of my blogs at and eBoat cards.
