Meet the Crew
Captain Darien Hill
Captain Darien Hill is a U S Coast Guard licensed Master with a Sail Endorsement. His great love for the sea has led him to over 30 years of experience on all of the world’s oceans except the Arctic. As a child, he was obsessed with anything do to with the sea. His first boat of his own came when he was eleven years old, and he later refurbished an old sailboat as a school science project.
His maritime ambitions led him to the US Navy to become a Quartermaster First Class (Navigator). As a member of the bridge team, he became proficient in many forms of navigational duties including rules of the road, celestial navigation, radar navigation, ship handling, chart plotting, chart and pub corrections, weather, and more.
Further Naval Service awarded Capt. Hill distinguished medals for his service as a member of the Navy’s elite EOD dive team. As an explosive ordinance demolition diver, challenges were met head on. The ability to adapt and overcome with tenacity, persistent determination, and experience combined with an eagerness to learn, provides the necessary skills to safely navigate your marine vessels anywhere in the world.
Capt Hill has sailed all over the world on vessels large and small, power and sail, and has a great love for ocean sailing and a passion for sharing that love with others.
Darien also enjoys ocean racing. Among some of the races in which he has competed are the Kenwood Cup (now called the Transpac or Transpacific Yacht Race) and the Around the State Race in Hawaii and the Regatta al Sol, a race from Pensacola, FL to Isla Mujares, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Captain Trachelle Hill is a US Coast Guard licensed Captain. Her love for sailing began 26 years ago in the Hawaiian Islands where she and her husband Darien sailed to and explored the islands of Oahu, Maui, Lanai and Moloka’i. Her sailing experience has come from several ocean crossings. She has sailed on the Pacific Ocean, the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, the Western Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico and she has recently transitted the Panama Canal. She loves the peace and tranquility of sailing as well as the adventure of exploring new places and meeting new people.
She has had years of experience in stocking a boat's galley and preparing menus and meals when underway whether for a few days or a few months. She has also learned how to meet the challanges of shopping for food in third world and developing countries and how to keep the food safe for human consumption and at the same time how to prepare nutritious and delicious "gourmet style" meals.
Trachelle also owns and manages Set Sail Yacht Charters, a luxury charter company on the MS Gulf Coast. Visit us at for more information on our charter services.
